Presenter Instructions
Oral Presentations
Oral presentations will take place as either Plenary, Keynote (both presented to the whole audience) or Parallel Oral (with the audience spread over 3 or 4 parallel sessions). Please upload your talk to the computer in the break before the session. The session chair(s) will introduce speakers to open the presentation and facilitate questions after the talk.
The projection screens at the venue are in 16:9 format (widescreen). You can use the laptop and upload your presentation on USB (preferred) or use your own computer with a HDMI port, if needed. There will be a student volunteer assigned to each parallel room to assist speakers, so if you have any difficulties during your presentation, please let them know and they will be happy to help.
Timing: Parallel oral presentations should last a maximum of 12 minutes to allow 3 minutes for questions. Keynote talks should be 25 mins with 5 mins of questions, and Plenary slots should be 40 mins with 5 mins of questions.
Poster Presentations
Poster sessions are scheduled for 1 hour on Tuesday afternoon (14:15–15:15) and Thursday afternoon (14:25–15:25). During the presentation time, you should plan to spend the entire hour at the poster for questions and discussion. The poster boards will be self-standing and there will be one poster per board. The size of each poster board is 180 cm high x 120 cm wide. Your poster should fit within this space but we strongly recommend that you create poster in the A0 standard size (118.9 cm high x 84.1 cm wide). This is in PORTRAIT mode – please do not make your poster in landscape/horizontal mode to ensure it fits within the vertical poster board.
It is recommended that you bring your poster in a tube for transport, but if you prefer to print the poster in Perth, Officeworks can provide printing, usually with a 2-day turnaround. Please check the website for details, and pick-up locations:
